Summit’s Structural Engineering branch, formerly known as GKC Associates, has vast knowledge and experience providing exceptional structural engineering services to architects, owners and contractors. From bridges to airports to offices, our staff has extensive commercial, industrial and institutional experience. Over the last 35 years, our staff has completed more than 3,000 structural projects.

Taking an analytical approach, we utilize RAM 3D and REVIT BIM software which permits our team to work quickly, while maintaining high levels of quality control. These software systems allow us to integrate effectively with the rest of the design team. After the initial structural design process, we value engineer projects through the remaining design process and provide clients with alternative design solutions.

Mr. Berg has served as the project engineer for over four million square feet of building space in the last 25 years, first as an employee and officer of GKC Associates, and currently with Summit Design and Engineering Services, which acquired GKC in 2014. This experience includes projects in excess of one hundred million dollars.

Project Spotlight

Honda Aerospace Engine Plant

Summit Design and Engineering Services is providing structural engineering services for a new addition to the Honda Aeropace plant in Alamance County, NC. The new $10 Million, 55,000 square-foot plant expansion project will expand the manufacture of light-jet engines for the Honda Jets, which are built in Greensboro, N.C. Attached to the plant will also be a 10,000 square-foot, two-story office expansion. To meet the owner’s tight schedule, this project required a fast-track construction schedule. This meant the structural design packages for the foundations, precast walls, and steel framing were issued for construction in advance of the architectural design being complete. Summit’s ability to coordinate closely with both internal and external project partners and deliver on challenging projects and schedules, such as this one, highlights Summit’s dedication to meeting clients needs and providing the best overall project experience.
