We are providing industrial coatings and inspection services on a four-bridge rehabilitation project for the NC Department of Transportation. These four bridges are located throughout Smithfield, NC in NCDOT Division 4. This project consists of lead abatement, a new coating system, shotcrete repairs, joint replacements, deck overlays and steel repairs.
This $9 Million project involved full rehabilitation of 12 bridges on Interstate 40 as they cross the historic Biltmore Estate. It required managed coordination between NCDOT and the private owners of Biltmore Estate, as well as adherence to historic registry guidelines. Our team provided lead inspection services for the entire project as well as multiple coatings and transportation inspectors.
Summit has provided engineering services including specification writing, plan reviews, submittal review, failure analysis and coatings assessments across multiple NCTA projects for coatings application to concrete bridges, MSE walls, sound walls, toll gantries and sign columns. Our team is providing further engineering services, asset management planning and QA inspection for multiple parts of this project.
We provided both contract administration and inspection services on this municipal project. The original five-span Mickley Avenue bridge had significantly deteriorated after 95 years of use. The bridge also spanned over the Norfolk Southern Railroad which had future railroad track additions planned. Between these two factors, the bridge qualified for an upgrade.
