Summit’s geotechnical engineering department consists of professional engineers and geologists, collaborating with licensed drillers and certified laboratory technicians, who perform subsurface explorations, evaluations, and testing for vertical and horizontal structures. Summit operates multiple AASHTO, CCRL, and DOT certified laboratories strategically located throughout our service territory. Summit's drill fleet includes variably mounted drill rigs ensuring a diverse capability of accessing unique site conditions and terrain. This gives design teams the option to obtain site parameters from the actual locations of planned structures and not an exploration program based solely on equipment accessibility, laboratory capability, or an assumed geological subsurface consistency. Finding a site’s subsurface inconsistencies is the key to project cost-savings during design and construction. Our exploration teams have performed thousands of evaluations, gaining the necessary experience to aid our private and public clients in reducing site development costs.
