We provided Geotechnical Engineering, Special Inspections and Construction Materials Testing for this three-story, 100,000-square foot, steel-framed building. The school building stands on the site of the original Northside School, which played a prominent role in the history of segregated schools in Chapel Hill. The building is meant to not only be a place of learning, but a place to support a thriving community and showcase the historic vibrance of the neighborhood.

We provided the Geotechnical Engineer of Record, soils and construction materials sampling and laboratory testing, which included inspection of concrete testing, structural steel welding inspections of the steel-braced frames, structural masonry inspections of the cafeteria and auditorium framing walls and reinforced concrete inspections for the column and wall footings, foundation walls and lightweight concrete composite deck slabs.

This is a 48,000 square foot facility, situated on 34 acres, that includes classrooms, offices and laboratories among other amenities. We provided site plans, surveying, construction materials testing and geotechnical engineering services.
