Project Description
Summit Design and Engineering Services provided Special Inspections and Construction Materials Testing for this seven story 144,290 SF reinforced concrete, structural masonry and structural steel building. It contains 85 rental dwelling units consisting of a total of 134,911 SF, with rental units ranging in size from 800 SF to 1700 SF and contains 6,485 SF of street level retail and commercial space and 2,894 SF of other space for services and entrance foyers. Summit provided the following services: Geotechnical Engineer of Record, soils and construction materials sampling and laboratory testing, footing bearing evaluation, concrete sampling and testing, laboratory compressive strength testing of concrete, mortar, and grout, bolt tension testing and steel inspection.

We provided Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections services to Greystar for a new 516,600 square foot luxury condo and apartment complex in Chapel Hill, NC. Services included: Earthwork and Grading, Building and Parking Garage Foundations, Cast-in-Place Concrete Inspections and Testing, Structural Masonry Inspections and Testing, Prestressed and Post Tension Concrete Inspection, Precast Concrete Placement Inspection, Steel and Wood Framing, Asphalt Pavement testing and Associated laboratory testing.

Multi-Family residential condominiums in the Historic District of Hillsborough, NC - Services provided include Architecture, Land Development, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Surveying.

Our Architecture Department became the first firm to have a multi-family residential development approved by the Town of Hillsborough Historic Distric Commission. Summit ensures the ideas, concerns, and feedback of the public and Historical Committee be implemented throughout the process of this project. Although the character of the building is of a contemporary nature, the materials will mimic much of what is in the district such as corrugated metal, masonry, natural siding and glass. The building will have 24 units, and situated next to the existing Sinclair building.

Plant Sciences building on campus at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC - Services provided include Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections.

We are the Geotechnical Engineer and Special Inspector of Record for the new Plant Sciences Building on NC State University’s Centennial Campus. This $160,200,000, five-story, 199,000-square-foot building contains research labs, office space, corporate lab/office suites, hearth/atrium space, conference space and rooftop greenhouses. Our services include subsurface drilling, field and laboratory testing of materials, and Special Inspections per Chapter 17 of the North Carolina Building Code. This building will be a state-of-the-art facility to research the challenges of agriculture, agribusiness, food production, disease resistance and climate change. Summit is proud to be a part of this huge step forward into the research of agriculture and sustainability.
